Tapping for good cause through toll payments on selected highways

HIGHWAY users can now do their bit for charity when using their debit cards to pay toll fares on four highways in the Klang Valley.

Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) and Amanat Lebuhraya Rakyat (ALR) are collaborating in the “Sentuhan Ikhlas” campaign.

The initiative aims to give at total of RM500,000 to MyKasih Foundation, disbursed in stages up to the target of five million MyDebit transactions within a two-month period.

Every MyDebit toll transaction at these highways contributes to this goal.

A thousand needy families are expected to benefit from the campaign.

They will be able to purchase food and household essentials through the use of their MyKad.

There are 152 MyDebit equipped toll lanes under ALR, which manages the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas), Damansara–Puchong Highway (LDP), Sprint Expressway (SPRINT) and Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel Expressway (SMART).

Present at the campaign’s launch held at LDP’s Puchong Selatan Toll Plaza were ALR group chief executive officer Sazally Saidi and PayNet commercial division senior director Azrul Fakhzan Mainor.

“The MyDebit system offers a convenient and safe platform for motorists to make toll transactions.

“Through this campaign, highway users can also contribute and support fellow Malaysians in need,” said Sazally.

The target funds would be distributed in phases, which are RM100,000 after one million transactions, RM150,000 at two-and-a-half million transactions and RM250,000 upon reaching five million transactions.

“Each MyDebit payment at our tolls represents a small act of kindness that, together, makes an impact on the lives of many,” said Sazally.

“We hope this campaign will inspire more highway users to join us in helping fellow Malaysians in need.”

“There are 44 million debit cards in circulation, and with the transactions from those cards, we can give something back to the rakyat,” said Azrul.
