On 9 December 2016, leading integrated environmental solutions provider, Cenviro Group, launched the MyKasih ‘Love My Neighbourhood’ food aid programme in Kuala Nerang, Kedah, with a contribution of RM 250,000 to MyKasih Foundation. The contribution formed part of the RM 1 million donation earmarked for food aid initiatives in various communities in Kedah to be administered by MyKasih Foundation. Cenviro Group Chief Executive Officer, Khalid Bahsoon, presented the cheque to MyKasih Foundation Trustee, Datuk Yaacob Amin, during the launch ceremony that day. The event was officiated by State Assemblyman for Kuala Nerang, Yang Berhormat Dato Badrol Hisham bin Hashim, who acknowleged that the contribution was a meaningful gesture to the people of Kuala Nerang who are predominantly ruber tappers and especially for families with many children. “We are pleased to be given this opportunity to work with MyKasih Foundation to reach out and render assistance to families in need. Cenviro Group has agreed to allocate RM 1 million each year to jointly carry out community programmes with MyKasih Foundation throughout the state of Kedah”, said Khalid Bahsoon. The collaboration between Cenviro and MyKasih Foundation started last year with the first RM 1 million being channelled to 1,000 economically-challenged families in Kedah via MyKasih’s MyKad-based cashless payment system. Others present that day were Cenviro Group’s Director, Yang Berbahagia Datin Paduka Che Asmah binti Ibrahim, and MyKasih Foundation Managing Director, Jeffrey Perera. Since its inception in 2009, MyKasih Foundation has reached out to almost 230,000 low-income households in over 400 locations nationwide, out of which, 10,000 are primary and secondary student beneficiaries in 200 schools.
